Johnson & Johnson has announced that they will pay $700,000 million in settlements to customers after years of allegations surrounding their talcum-infused baby powder.
For decades, many consumers have claimed that exposure to talcum caused their cancer. According to NBC, the nationwide lawsuit details that Johnson & Johnson was aware of the potential harm of talcum since the 1950s. They made no changes to their marketing and advertising of the product, not even putting a talcum contents warning on their products.
This settlement took the efforts of multiple cancer patients and 43 State Attorney Generals across 42 states. After this ruling, Johnson & Johnston will cease all production and distribution of talc products.
