Wendy Williams has had a history of stirring controversy with her words. And it doesn’t seem to end, as she is receiving criticism over her comments on the murder of 19 year old TikTok star, Matima Miller, who was known as Swavy.
Swavy, who had 2.7 Million views at the time of his death, was shot on Monday, July 5th in Wilmington, Deleware. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In an episode of her talk show, “The Wendy WIlliams Show”, Williams had her “Hot Topics” segment, where she speaks on various news going on in the world. She talked about the death of Swavy by asking the audience if they knew who he was, as she herself claimed she had “no idea who he is”. She even asked the audience to clap if they knew who the 19 year old was.

Williams then brought up how Swavy had over 2 million TikTok followers, to where her producer then mentioned how she had more followers than Swavy on Instagram. The audience proceeded to applaud for Williams, not realizing that the young man they are discussing had been recently murdered.
Williams would then take a long look at the picture displayed of Swavy on the screen behind her, while the audience briefly laughed, before she revealed to the audience that he had been killed. This caused outrage on social media, as Williams clearly introduced the story to the crowd in an unprofessional and disrespectful manner.
Williams is known for having controversial takes and comments during her show. In 2020, Williams caught fire for a comment she made about the death of Amie Harwick, who died after falling off a balcony. Harwick was the Ex-fiance of “The Price is Right” host, Drew Carey. On her show, Williams shouted out, “Come on down”, when mentioning Harwick, as that was a catchphrase Carey would use on his show.
As of now, Williams has not responded to the criticism of her comments about Swavy’s death.

Wendy Williams treating Swavy the way she did on live television is really on brand for her. What a fucking weirdo.

The way Wendy Williams introduced that story about that TikTok star's passing was offensive. I swear she still thinks she is on the radio with the way she discusses the news. She has always had a very dark spirit.
