Whoopi Goldberg receives backlash over her Holocaust comment that she made on The View while talking about how a Tennessee school district banned “Maus.” For those who don’t know, “Maus” is a graphic novel written by Art Spiegelman, which he’s interviewing his father on his experiences during the Holocaust. In this novel, the Nazis are portrayed as cats, while Jews are portrayed as mice. The Tennessee District banned “Maus” citing it “rough, objectionable language and nudity drawings.”
While having this discussion, Whoopi made it known that the nudity stood out more to her than the Holocaust itself. Another host made the comment that the nudity was a way to get you to not see the real problem which is White Supremacy. Whoopi responded by saying “If you’re going to do this, then let’s be truthful about it, because the Holocaust isn’t about race, it’s about man’s inhumanity of man.”
Although her co host Joy Behar and Anna Navarro tried to get in her head that it’s indeed about White Supremacy and that the Jews were viewed as a different race, Whoopi ended the discussion by saying that everyone is missing the point and also mentioned “It’s how people treat each other. It’s a problem.” Thoughts her comment? Let us know!
