UK WOMAN REVEALS HORRIFIC GANG-RAPE INCIDENT THAT TOOK PLACE IN METAVERSE

Virtual Reality started booming over the past few years as technology is always advancing. It became talk of the town when Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerburg, wanted to create a virtual world where we can socialize, play and work called “Metaverse”. Zuckerburg made it very clear that it is the future.

Late last year, Metaverse released “Horizon Worlds” which was available to people 18 and up by invite-beta only. UK mother and Vice President of Metaverse Research for Kabuni Ventures recalls her visit to the world and it wasn’t a pleasant one. Nina Jane Patel explained that she was sexually harassed during her first few moments of being in Horizon world. Patel described this horrific moment on a personal blog she wrote on Reality or Fiction. She started off by saying “Within 60 seconds of joining, I was verbally and sexually harassed. Three to four male avatars, with male voices, essentially, but virtually gang raped my avatar and took photos — as I tried to get away they yelled — ‘don’t pretend you didn’t love it’ and ‘go rub yourself off to the photo.’ A horrible experience that happened so fast and before I could even think about putting the safety barrier in place.”

A Metaverse spokesman, Joe Osborne, made a statement to the New York Post after the news broke out saying “We’re sorry to hear this happened. We want everyone in Horizon Venues to have a positive experience, easily find the safety tools that can help in a situation like this — and help us investigate and take action,” Osborne said. “Horizon Venues should be safe, and we are committed to building it that way. We will continue to make improvements as we learn more about how people interact in these spaces, especially when it comes to helping people report things easily and reliably.”
