A 77-year-old man from McKeesport, Pa, is facing criminal charges after his 5-year-old daughter was seen chasing kids with a handgun, police said.
According to WTAE, the police were first notified about the situation last week, after getting a report of a young girl chasing other children with the gun in the parking lot of a building at Crawford Village.
According to a police affidavit, investigators made contact with Charles Counts by finding him in McKeesport Housing Authority log sheets. After a “brief conversation” with the police, Counts told officers that the gun was in his drawer and was not loaded, the affidavit says.
According to police, Counts said the gun was in his drawer and not loaded and he also told officers he did not know his daughter took the gun or he would have stopped her.
Although Counts claimed it wasn’t his gun, he is still facing charges with recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of children. His hearing is next week.
