BHM SERIES – The Present & Future Black History of Chicago: People To Know, Places To Go, and Things To See

The Resident Association of Greater Englewood (R.A.G.E) is all about leadership, accountability, and ownership, which are 3 principles instrumental to building and maintaining a healthy foundation within the community. In 2010, residents within all 6 wards of the Greater Englewood area decided that enough was enough, and it was time for a true change within their neighborhood and it can only be possible from their own hands. This group of individuals decided to gather their skills and resources to make it their mission to create tangible solutions and mobilize residents to empower each other in order to be the change they wish to see. Leading by example, they gather the people to discuss problems, host events, share information, make plans of action, and more.

It’s an African Proverb that states, “if you want to go fast, then go alone. If you want to go far, then go together.” This group of like minded individuals is showing us that anything is possible once we use our anger constructively and exercise our voices respectfully.

For more information on how you can be of value in the community with R.A.G.E. visit their website and check out all they have to offer:  https://ragenglewood.org/

The Choice is Yours. Remember, to use #WTWBHM to let us know more about Chicago black history makers. Happy Black History Month!
