Illinois Extends Leave Protections for Grieving Employees and Crime Victims

Starting january 1st, 2024, people in illinois must receive up to two weeks of unpaid leave if a family member is killed in a crime of violence

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has approved over 150 laws that will come into effect in the upcoming year, with a significant number taking effect on January 1st, 2024.

The new Illinois Child Extended Bereavement Leave Act (CEBLA) became law on August 4, 2023. CEBLA requires covered Illinois employers to provide additional unpaid leave to employees who are faced with a child’s death due to homicide or suicide

One of the recently enacted legislations would grant noncitizens the opportunity to serve as police officers.

Another bill will provide legal redress for victims of “deepfake” pornography.

Furthermore, another regulation mandates that any individuals who possess any of the 170 firearms categorized as “assault-style weapons” that have been prohibited by law must complete the process of registering them with the state police.
