R. KELLY CLAIMS HE WAS UNAWARE OF $10.5M LAWSUIT BECAUSE CAN’T READ WELL

R. Kelly denies responsibility for a lawsuit judgment, claiming he was unaware of the case filed by women who accused him of victimization because he can’t read.

Last year, six women were awarded $10.5 million for a lawsuit accusing R. Kelly and his ex-manager, Donnell Russell, of orchestrating a mass shooting threat to stop a NYC screening of the ‘Surviving R. Kelly‘ docu-series in December 2018.

In new legal documents, Kelly asserts that he was unaware of the lawsuit and should not be held accountable for its outcome. He cites his ongoing legal battles and his limited ability to comprehend complex legal matters as reasons for his alleged lack of knowledge.

According to Kelly, his attention has been consumed by his multiple criminal cases and prosecutions, leaving him unable to keep up with the various lawsuits filed against him. He alleges that the lawsuit in question must have slipped through the cracks or failed to reach him while he remains incarcerated in North Carolina. Furthermore, he claims to have changed legal teams since his imprisonment, which may have contributed to the oversight.

Kelly’s defense takes an unexpected turn as he admits to having limited reading and comprehension abilities. According to TMZ, he states that he relies on his lawyers to interpret legal documents for him, as he can only understand words at a low level. “I cannot read or understand words beyond that of a grade-schooler.”
