On April 8th, 2024, a violent incident occurred in the city of Los Angeles that left a family devastated. Danielle Johnson, a 34-year-old astrology influencer who was popular for advising her many social media followers about the mystical powers of celestial alignments, went on a killing rampage causing disturbance in the city.
In the early hours of Monday morning, hours before the eclipse, police said she went on a killing spree. She fatally stabbed her domestic partner, Jaelen Chaney, 29, at their home in the 6200 block of Variel Avenue, multiple times before fleeing with her two young children, aged nine and eight months old.
Reports suggested that she forced her children out of the moving vehicle at 4:30 a.m., then accelerated into a tree at full speed, killing herself instantly on impact in what authorities believe was a deliberate suicide. The nine-year-old sustained moderate injuries from the fall, but the 8-month-old was tragically hit by oncoming traffic.
Some of her social media activity leading up to the eclipse stated that the eclipse would be the “epitome of spiritual warfare,” warning her followers to “wake up; the apocalypse is here” and “pick a side.” Investigators stated that the eclipse may have been a contributing factor.
