PASTOR KEION SHARES A STRONG MESSAGE ABOUT MEN’S MENTAL HEALTH AND VULNERABILITY

Pastor Keion shared a meaningful message about how a lot of men tend to struggle with vulnerability around women. He shed light on how many men are not “emotionless” but in fact have “deep emotions.” Keion then sheds a light on how men tend to shut down due to receiving backlash from opening up; especially when a woman uses a man’s moments of vulnerability to win an argument. He states, “When a man opens up, don’t use what he said when he was open to prove a point when you want to win an argument.”

The month of May is Mental Health Awareness month, and it is prevalent that we acknowledge the men in our community in their time of need. Male vulnerability and emotional security should be added to the lives of not just women, but men as well. Mental Health has been a trending topic since 2020, and it is time that we acknowledge the mental health crisis first hand, especially in the black community.

There are many outlets that can help our black men with mental health such as talk spaces, therapy, and fitness. On the other hand, the primary source of security and love should start at home. In the month of May, let’s uplift, advocate, and speak life into our black men.
