HISTORY MADE AS DOCTOR OPENS FIRST BLACK WOMAN-OWNED HOLISTIC SLEEP CLINIC

Dr. Funke Afolabi-Brown, the Founder and CEO of The Restful Sleep Place, the first Black woman-owned sleep clinic

Dr. Funke Afolabi-Brown is the Founder and CEO of The Restful Sleep Place, which is the first Black woman-owned sleep clinic. This clinic offers holistic sleep care for children from infancy to 18 years old. Dr. Afolabi-Brown currently serves patients in-person or virtually in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and California, with plans to extend her services nationwide in the coming year.

Let’s delve into some statistics. Did you know that 60% of children in the United States suffer from sleep deprivation? This is often linked to behavioral difficulties, learning delays, and frequent illness. Dr. Afolabi-Brown, a board-certified pediatric pulmonologist and sleep medicine physician with over two decades of experience, is on a mission to address this issue, one family at a time.

“Sleep deprivation doesn’t just affect the individual; it impacts the entire family unit,” explains Dr. Afolabi-Brown. “When a child is sleep deprived, their physical, mental and emotional health suffers. Parents are often physically and mentally exhausted themselves. That is why our approach is family-centered. We address the root cause by looking at medical, psychosocial and behavioral components, from which we create customizable sleep treatments honoring the family’s values.”

She is on a mission to help parents and their children prioritize sleep to achieve their optimal health and live to their fullest potential.

Through her clinic, The Restful Sleep Place, she provides personalized, patient-centered, integrative care to families..

Families all across the country are invited to schedule an appointment with no referral needed via the official web site at TheRestfulSleepPlace.com
