The deadly shooting on January 29, 2013 of 15 year old Hadiya Pendleton shook the city. Her mother turns her pain into passion and a positive change for Chicago. It has been 11 long years since she was senselessly shot and killed at Harsh Park in the Kenwood area. She was a student at King College Prep and was killed one week after performing at events for President Barack Obama’s second inauguration.
According to ABC 7 News the community is coming together to raise awareness of the senseless gun violence that continues to persist with the 11th annual “Party 4 Peace”. This Saturday the Party 4 Peace will be held at Hadiya Pendleton Park in Bronzeville from 11 a.m. to 5p.m.
