The Chicago “Heavy Hitters,” also known as DJ Pharris, DJ Amaris, and DJ Nephets, are positively changing Friday nights for the Chicagoland area. Pretty K and Chris from Whats The Word TV went to see what the hype was about this past Friday. We walked in and were greeted by security, who did their due diligence to ensure no one entered the building without being securely patted down or out of dress code. The place was packed out, and everyone was enjoying themselves responsibly.

This particular weekend, there were ten people killed and 34 wounded across Chicago, making it the 3rd weekend straight with 30 plus shootings. The previous Memorial Day weekend, 42 people were shot between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday. Nine people were shot to death that weekend. For this reason, I usually do not come out to club events because I worry about my safety and those around me.
In conversation with one of the Heavy Hitters and Chief Keef’s official DJ (Amaris), he stated, “We come together on Fridays to create a grown, sexy, and safe environment needed in the city. A “VIBE” is what we call it. Every week, we look to create an experience.” No shootings, fights, or police calls have been made since this event.
This past Friday, DJ Pharris, DJ Amaris & DJ Nephets, all from Power 92 Chicago, hosted an event called “The Riskier, The Better Juke Jam,” which featured Chicago rapper Pretty Liyah performing. Juke originated in Chicago and created a positive wave for the culture. Chicago is trying to bring that back!
Amchee is a 25 and up club that serves alcohol & hookah and is located at 18409 S Halsted Street in Glenwood, Illinois; and is open from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. The dress code is grown and sexy. No joggers, hoodies, white tees, or slides.
