Bodycam footage depicts the events during a police pursuit involving a mother who abducted her daughter after losing custody in 2022. According to Florida authorities, Pamela Cabrera took her 5-year-old from her sister’s residence after being denied visitation.
Cabrera was apprehended on March 31, 2022, after being pulled from a retention pond in Jacksonville, Florida following an extended chase.
Tragically, Cabrera’s daughter was in the vehicle and did not survive. According to an arrest report, Cabrera led law enforcement on a 30-mile high-speed pursuit with her 5-year-old daughter before crashing into a retention pond.
Court records showed that Cabrera has a history of mental illness, including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. At one point during the court process, she was deemed mentally incompetent to stand trial, but a reevaluation was done in late August.
