The Block Clubs of My Block My Hood My City are dedicated to fostering stronger, more interconnected communities by empowering residents to take ownership of their neighborhoods. This is achieved through the promotion of cooperation, organization of activities, and addressing of pertinent issues. Chicagoans are proud to have an organization that is aiming for positive change throughout the city.
MBMYBC is crucial in uniting the community to establish secure, vibrant, and cohesive environments. The objective of joining or establishing a block club is to partake in a movement that elevates the pride and sense of responsibility within one’s community. This, in turn, ensures that every block in Chicago is a place where individuals feel secure, supported, and interconnected.
Jahmal Cole, the Chief Executive Officer and Founder, is launching a new initiative named 100 blocks in 100 days. The plan is to visit various city blocks to engage with block captains and people of the community to come together to enhance the quality of these blocks and gain insight into the diverse needs of Chicago residents throughout the city. So far, they have already visited six blocks.
- BLOCK 1: “THE STAGE”
- BLOCK 2- “Rooster Crows When the Sun Is Up”
- BLOCK 3 “KILLED A CACTUS”
- BLOCK 4 “GRANT MONEY & ELBOW GREASE”
- BLOCK 5 “PEACE TREES”
- BLOCK 6 “SOUL CITY”
