When news broke that Lil Durk had been arrested just days after his birthday, questions arose about those he had supported and donated to, including Chicago’s Mayor Brandon Johnson.

Just last year, Lil Durk made a $150,000 campaign donation to Mayor Johnson shortly after Johnson took office, ranking as one of the mayor’s top individual donors following the April runoff election. And now, the media and everyone else want to know what is going to happen to the money.
Asked about the donation at an unrelated press event, the mayor said he wasn’t going to pass judgement on a Black man before a trial.

“If you’re asking me, if I should make a judgment on a Black man before a full trial has actually come to fruition, I hope you do understand why it is not my position to determine the outcome of someone’s life,” Johnson said.
Johnson mentioned that although he doesn’t know much information on Lil Durk’s case, he’s still going to keep in mind all the good he has done for Chicago as a whole.
