The Chicago police are conducting a thorough investigation into the unfortunate demise of a woman discovered in a luxury high-rise stairwell in the South Loop. This distressing incident has garnered significant attention, particularly due to the presence of a severed foot found alongside the body.
According to CWB Chicago, the doorman of the highrise alerted authorities after a resident discovered the scene at approximately 7:25 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2024. Results of her autopsy are still pending, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Authorities have not disclosed the name of the 36-year-old woman, but court documents reveal that she had a relationship with a resident of the building. This week, Chicago police detectives interviewed this individual; however, they released him without filing any charges. A resident of the building told CWBChicago that they would be “shocked” if the man had any involvement in the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
According to Cook County court records, the individual filed three distinct police reports and secured an order of protection against the man in October 2023. However, the court dismissed this order the following month. Additionally, the records show that the individual has not filed any further petitions since then.
In an affidavit seeking legal orders, she stated that “he contacts me approximately twenty times a day” and referred to her using derogatory names such as “liar,” “cheater,” “whore,” and “piece of sh*t.”
First Incident:
- September 2023, she reported that the man entered her hotel room at the Ritz Carlton while she was sleeping and subjected her to verbal and physical abuse.
Second Incident:
- The man started abusing me both physically and verbally in August 2023.
- She also stated in the affidavit, “slamming my head against a cabinet, slapping me, punching me, putting my head on a headlock, and dragging me away from the door.”
- The police returned to the man’s home to arrest him, but he did not come to the door.
Third Incident:
- The man struck her in the head with a pickle jar at her Michigan home in July 2023.
- She alleged that she fled the residence after the man “poured vodka on my body, which burned my wounds.
- He took the woman to a hospital for treatment of her “open head wound” two days later, the woman alleged.
The Chicago Police Department confirms that authorities have never arrested the man or charged him with a crime in Cook County.
