According to a report from FOX32 Chicago, Daniel Schmidt, age 24, is currently facing allegations of assaulting an election judge after being ordered to wait in line to cast his vote.
On the morning of the incident, at approximately 11 a.m., law enforcement authorities were summoned to the Orland Park Township Office, located at 14807 Ravinia Ave., following reports of a disturbance within the voting line. Upon their arrival, officers discovered that several bystanders had already detained Schmidt.
It is alleged that Schmidt attempted to bypass other voters in line. When an election judge at the entrance instructed him to return to the end of the line, Schmidt is reported to have attempted to push past the judge. Subsequently, he began shouting profane language and physically struck the judge, resulting in the judge’s glasses being dislodged.
Witnesses in the vicinity intervened and restrained Schmidt until the police arrived on the scene. Law enforcement officials indicated that he also resisted arrest.

Schmidt has been taken into custody and faces two felony charges for aggravated battery against a victim over the age of 60, as well as two additional felony charges for aggravated battery in a public setting, along with several misdemeanor charges. He spent the night in detention and appeared in court for a hearing regarding his detention on the following Monday morning.
