A hospital worker in Iowa was fired from her position after a video allegedly showed her flossing her teeth over a patient.
A man posted a video on Facebook of his friend, Cole Cross, receiving treatment for congenital heart disease last month at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
In the video, the nurse’s aide is seen flossing her teeth while standing over the patient. Despite Cross’ attempts to get her attention, the aide continues to floss and ignores him.
Ottumwa Regional Health Center issued a statement calling the behavior unacceptable, adding the incident does not reflect the care their team provides.
While the staff member’s employment has ended, Cross’s medical journey continues.
