GEORGIA WOMAN SUES IVF CLINIC AFTER GIVING BIRTH TO ANOTHER COUPLE’S BABY

A woman from Georgia has taken legal action against a fertility clinic after an IVF mix-up led her to carry and give birth to a black baby that wasn’t biologically hers. She became pregnant, but things took a shocking turn when, after nine months, she delivered a child who did not match her genetic background or that of her chosen sperm donor.

The suit, filed Tuesday in Georgia state court, alleges that 38-year-old Krystena Murray “unknowingly and unwillingly carried a child through pregnancy who was not biologically related to her,” something she learned only once she delivered the baby boy in December 2023.

Murray was heartbroken when she learned the truth. Despite the circumstances, she decided to keep and raise the baby for several months, during which she formed a deep bond with him.

Eventually, Murray then had to give custody of the baby to his biological parents, adding to her trauma.

The attorneys are seeking a judgment in excess of $75,000 as well as punitive damages, recovered attorney fees, recovered treble damages and all other costs.
