ANGIE STONE DEAD AT 63 IN CAR CRASH

The music world mourns the loss of Angie Stone, the iconic R&B and soul singer, who tragically passed away at the age of 63. Stone’s life was abruptly ended in a car accident early Saturday morning in Montgomery, Alabama, following a performance.

Born on December 18, 1961, in Columbia, South Carolina, Angie Stone’s passion for music was evident from a young age. She first gained prominence in the late 1970s as a member of The Sequence, one of the pioneering female hip-hop trios. Their 1979 hit “Funk You Up” not only showcased their talent but also made history as one of the first rap hits performed by women. 

Transitioning to a solo career in the late 1990s, Stone released her debut album, “Black Diamond,” in 1999. The album received critical acclaim and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. Her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics resonated with many, leading to hits like “No More Rain (In This Cloud)” and “Wish I Didn’t Miss You.”
