A Maryland man has been arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct after allegedly punching a United Airlines gate agent at Dulles International Airport. The incident occurred at Gate D12 on the evening of March 13, 2025. The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Christopher Stuart Crittenden of Frederick, Maryland, is a retired Montgomery County Fire Department Captain.
The altercation was captured on cellphone video by a bystander, showing Crittenden striking the gate agent in the face, causing the agent to fall to the ground. The Airports Authority’s fire and rescue department transported the injured employee to a local hospital for treatment.
In response to the incident, United Airlines has banned Crittenden from future travel on their flights. This event underscores the increasing concern over unruly passenger behavior in airports and the serious consequences that follow such actions.
