In an absolutely terrifying scene in Brooklyn over the weekend, four young girls were attacked by their uncle inside their own home. The guy was armed with a meat cleaver—and yes, it’s just as horrific as it sounds.
This all went down around 10:15 a.m. on Sunday in an apartment on Harman Street, near the Brooklyn-Queens border. According to a report from the New York Post, 49-year-old Lun Chang Chen attacked his nieces—ages 8, 11, 13, and 16—leaving them seriously injured. Thankfully, all four are expected to survive.

One of the girls was able to lock herself in a room and call 911. Total bravery. When the cops showed up, they could hear screaming and had to break into the apartment. That’s when they saw Chen with the blood-covered cleaver. They told him to drop it, but when he came at them, they shot him. He’s now in critical condition.
Neighbors are shocked, and honestly, who wouldn’t be? This kind of violence is beyond horrifying—especially involving kids. Their mom wasn’t home at the time, and there’s still no word on what set him off.

The community is coming together to support the family, and local officials are making sure the girls and those close to them get the help they need. On a bigger level, it’s another sad reminder of how important mental health support and domestic violence prevention are.
