On Facebook, a man posted a video filmed at Richardson Mortuary, where his mother was meant to be, only to be shocked at the condition that the home was keeping the bodies.
David McGrudger shared footage showing dead bodies lying uncovered in various places around the facility.
According to Newsweek, Scott Bingaman, the executive director of the Texas Funeral Service Commission, mentioned that he was informed Michael Bell, the owner of Richardson Mortuary, had been hospitalized in February. This situation may have delayed progress at the facility. Additionally, the roof of the mortuary was damaged by Hurricane Beryl, which struck the southeastern United States in July 2024.
According to the Houston Police Department (HPD), a stabbing also took place at Richardson Mortuary on Friday that left one person injured.
Houston police said the fight between the man and employee started once he uploaded the video to his social media. The worker eventually confronted her brother and ordered the family to leave. When they refused, she said he stabbed her brother in the stomach.
The victim drove himself to a hospital and was treated for minor injures before being released, HPD said.
Since the suspect claimed self-defense, the district attorney declined to press charges for the stabbing.
