Derrick Rose might’ve officially retired from the NBA back in 2024, but that doesn’t mean he’s done hooping. The former MVP pulled up to China in April 2025 and gave fans a show they won’t forget anytime soon.
Rose popped out in Guangzhou for a special one-on-one game against local streetball star Chen Zewen. And let’s just say—D-Rose still got it. He went off, dropping 101 points in a friendly game played to 100 (yeah, he hit an extra bucket just because). Final score? 101–64. It was all love, though. The crowd went wild just seeing him back in action.
Even though he’s not in the league anymore, Rose’s global impact is still huge—especially in China. Fans there have been rocking with him for years, partly due to his Adidas connection, but mainly because his story has always inspired people. From MVP highs to injury setbacks and comebacks, he’s the definition of resilience.
And the respect goes both ways. During his visit, Rose showed a lot of love back to the fans who never stopped supporting him. He’s talked about wanting to “chase dreams and share growth” now that he’s off the court—which sounds like he’s just getting started in a whole new chapter.
On top of all that, the Bulls are planning to retire his No. 1 jersey during the 2025–26 season. A well-deserved honor for a hometown hero who changed the game.
Whether he’s on the NBA hardwood or hooping overseas, Derrick Rose is still a legend in motion.
