LIL DURK GETS ANOTHER SHOT AT BOND IN MURDER-FOR-HIRE CASE

Lil Durk might finally be getting a shot at freedom—at least temporarily. The Chicago rapper has been granted a bond reconsideration hearing set for May 8, as he continues to fight serious federal charges tied to an alleged murder-for-hire plot.

According to AllHipHop, Durk has been locked up since October 2024. Prosecutors accuse him of financing a deadly ambush that killed Lul Pabb, the cousin of rapper Quando Rondo, in August 2022. They believe the hit was revenge for the 2020 killing of King Von, a close friend and collaborator of Durk.

Durk’s legal team is pushing back hard, saying the government is using out-of-context rap lyrics and fan-made social media videos as key evidence. One of the examples cited in court came from lyrics in Babyface Ray’s song “Wonderful Wayne & Jackie Boy”, which features Durk. Prosecutors claim the lyrics hint at the killing, but his team argues the song dropped months before the incident—and that a viral video pairing it with Quando Rondo’s reaction was made by a fan, not Durk or his people.

To strengthen their case for release, Durk’s attorneys proposed a revised bond package worth over $2 million, including:

Back in December, a judge denied bond, saying no conditions would guarantee public safety, pointing to Durk’s alleged ties to violent activity and international travel plans right after his co-defendants were arrested (AllHipHop).

Now, with this new offer on the table, the upcoming hearing could be a turning point. If convicted, Lil Durk faces the possibility of life in prison—or even the death penalty. He’s pled not guilty to all charges.

All eyes are on May 8, when we’ll find out if Durk gets to prepare for trial from the outside or stay behind bars. Stay tuned.
