A black woman has come out to speak about how she was assaulted by a white man on the way to work.
Jasmine Thomas said was assaulted on Monday on the way to her job by which she ended up catching on camera.
John Daniel Rosso, 79, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery in the third degree on April 28th.
According to a police report cited by WRDW, officers arrived at the scene in a residential neighborhood in Aiken earlier that day, where they saw 25-year-old Jasmine Thomas with visible bruising on her face.
Thomas informed the police that she is a hospice worker and has been working on Belvedere Drive. After being noticed by Rosso, he abandoned the conversation he was having with another woman, got into his car, and followed her to the house where she had been employed for some time. Once he reached her car, Rosso began banging on Thomas’ window, prompting her to roll it down. At that moment, he struck her in the face.
Thomas made her way out the car and to the house where she was working but Rosso managed to catch up to her, hitting her again.
The homeowner who broke up the fight told officials that he believes the incident was “provoked by racism.”
Rosso was arrested and released on bond set at $1,087.50.
