TEEN SHOT NEAR PHILLIPS HIGH SCHOOL IN CHICAGO

A 14-year-old boy was shot in the leg Wednesday afternoon near Wendell Phillips Academy High School in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood. The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. during school dismissal, just steps from campus.

The teen, struck in the right leg, was taken to Insight Hospital and is in fair condition. Phillips High went into a brief soft lockdown, which was lifted once police confirmed no ongoing threat.

According to ABC News, the shooting happened after a fight had occurred.

No arrests have been made. Police are investigating, and school officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.
