On a recent flight home from Disney World, an unsettling incident took place that quickly went viral: a woman reportedly slapped a young boy after he called her “fat” while boarding.
According to what witnesses told police, the child told Kristy Crampton she couldn’t fit in the airplane seat.
According to WFTV, Crampton struck the boy and slammed his head against a window following a verbal argument. One witness described the incident as abuse, stating the “woman was not correcting the child, she was abusing him, whipping the s*** out of the kid.”
Authorities removed her upon landing. The boy wasn’t physically harmed, but the moment sparked outrage and debate online.
Some people defended the Crampton, citing the emotional toll of body-shaming. Others condemned the act, reminding that no matter the insult, violence—especially toward a child—is never the answer.
Crampton was taken into custody where she was charged with child abuse. She was released on a $10,000 bond the following day.
