Chaos erupted at St. Louis Lambert International Airport as a massive line of travelers extended well beyond the terminal, nearly reaching the highway. Eyewitnesses described the scene as “unreal,” with passengers dragging their suitcases along the airport roads while staff members hurried to restore order.
According to Fox 2 Now, the unusually long lines occurred Sunday morning as large crowds left the city after The Seventh-Day Adventist convention that had roughly many of the 50,000 attendees flying from St. Louis.
“It’s like nothing I’ve seen before,” said one traveler en route to Chicago. “We were lining up practically outside the airport fence. It felt like we were checking in from the freeway.”
Airport officials are urging travelers to arrive at least three hours early and consider alternative transportation options to avoid congestion. Until the crowds ease, patience—and perhaps a good audiobook—may be every traveler’s best carry-on.
