Three Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were killed Friday morning in a devastating explosion at a training facility in East L.A.
The blast occurred around 7:30 a.m. at the Biscailuz Training Facility, where the deputies—part of the Arson and Explosives Detail—were reportedly involved in a training exercise. No civilians were injured.
Sheriff Robert Luna confirmed the loss, calling it the department’s deadliest incident in over a century. “These were highly experienced deputies doing extremely dangerous work,” Luna said.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation. The FBI, ATF, and LAPD bomb squad are assisting at the scene.
The fallen deputies’ names have not yet been released. Officials and community members are mourning the tragic loss and awaiting answers as the investigation unfolds.
