ChiGivesBack is once again stepping up for the city’s youth with their seventh annual Labor of Love back-to-school event—going down Sunday, August 17th in Englewood and on the West Side of Chicago.
This community-centered day was created with one goal in mind: helping students start the school year off right. With the new semester kicking off the very next day, Labor of Love is all about making sure our kids feel fresh, prepared, and supported—from head to toe and inside out.
Here’s what families can expect on site:
FREE haircuts, locs, braids, and silk presses Backpacks loaded with school supplies On-site community resources and family support
More than just giveaways, this event is about restoring confidence, building community, and showing love where it’s needed most.
ChiGivesBack is also calling on community partners, local businesses, and nonprofit organizations to help take this initiative to the next level. If your organization can offer services, support, or just wants to show love—this is the perfect way to plug in and be part of something real.
