Pastor Donovan Price spoke with reporters, stating, “The child got a hold of a gun and shot himself. The sister called 911 and was driving the child to the hospital, from what I understand.” He added, “It’s a combination of grief and trying to process and face reality. We are all trying to figure out what happened.” Price emphasized the importance of safety in homes with children, saying, “When a child is in the house, you have to do everything. It’s like childproofing a house with the electrical system. You have to go the extra mile.”
The boy’s relatives remained at the hospital late into Sunday evening as family members visited to say their final goodbyes. Authorities have reported that no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and it remains unclear whether anyone will be charged in the incident.
