Early Saturday morning, tragedy struck in Chicago’s Fuller Park neighborhood. Around 12:40 a.m., a woman was fatally shot while exiting a private bus near 54th Place and Shields Avenue.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the victim was getting off the bus when someone inside opened fire, striking her in the thigh. Emergency responders treated her at the scene before transporting her to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Odeal Curley. Her family has expressed their grief on social media, with one relative writing, “Damn cousin Odeal Curley so sorry this happened to you. Love you.”
As of now, the shooter remains at large, and no arrests have been made. Authorities are investigating the incident, but no known motive has been disclosed.
