NAS’ MASS APPEAL AND MARVEL TEAM UP FOR “LEGEND HAS ”IT”—A NEW CHAPTER WHERE HIP-HOP MEETS HEROISM

Marvel and Nas’ Mass Appeal are joining forces for the Legend Has It series — turning hip-hop icons like Nas, Raekwon, Ghostface, and Slick Rick into comic book legends.

“yall have been superheros to us, musically. yall saved us through our darkest days, toughest times, through birthdays, whatever we going through yall gave us the soundtrack for that.”

When hip-hop and comic culture collide, it’s always something special — and Nas’ Mass Appeal imprint is keeping that energy alive. Recently, Mass Appeal announced an extended partnership with Marvel for their “Legend Has It” series, bringing together some of hip-hop’s most legendary names and the world’s biggest comic brand.

Set to release on October 10, Marvel will drop a limited-edition comic featuring the Legend Has It roster—Nas, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, De La Soul, and Slick Rick. This project follows the rollout of seven albums announced earlier this year, with Rae, Ghostface, and Slick Rick already releasing their projects.

Mobb Deep’s “Infinite,” also dropping October 10.

This isn’t Marvel’s first dance with hip-hop. Back in 2018, Kendrick Lamar helped curate and co-executive produce the Black Panther soundtrack, blending rap, rhythm, and revolution into a cinematic masterpiece. And way before that, Ghostface Killah nearly made a cameo in the original Iron Man movie—a nod to his “Tony Starks” alter ego that sadly didn’t make the final cut.

Marvel has long shown love to the culture, from dropping variant comic covers inspired by classic hip-hop albums like Dr. Dre’s The Chronic and Nas’ Illmatic to creating storylines that mirror the same grit, resilience, and rebellion found in rap.

What makes this collaboration powerful is how it continues hip-hop’s evolution—from the streets to the stage, and now, to the pages of comic history. Both hip-hop and comics have always been about storytelling: heroes rising from struggle, finding identity, and challenging the world around them.

The Legend Has It series doesn’t just celebrate music or art; it celebrates the architects of culture who turned their words into worlds. And now, Marvel’s helping make those worlds larger than life.

It’s more than nostalgia — it’s proof that hip-hop’s influence is everywhere, shaping not just sound but imagination itself.
