In a major legal win, Lil Durk just closed the book on a $12 million lawsuit that’s been hanging over his head since 2023.
The case—filed by New York-based fintech company Exceed Talent Capital—accused Durk of selling the rights to his song “Bedtime” twice, allegedly defrauding investors and causing millions in losses. But as of early November 2025, that claim is officially over.
According to AllHipHop and HotNewHipHop, the lawsuit has been dismissed with prejudice, meaning the case cannot be refiled, and both sides waive their rights to appeal or recover legal fees. In short, it’s a clean win for Durk—and a big loss for Exceed.
How It Started
Back in December 2023, Exceed Talent Capital filed the lawsuit claiming that Lil Durk had double-sold ownership of his track “Bedtime.”
The fintech company said it purchased exclusive rights to the single as part of an investment deal that allowed fans to buy shares of Durk’s music catalog. Later, Exceed learned the song was already under an exclusive agreement with Alamo Records, sparking accusations of fraud and breach of contract.
How It Ended
After months of filings and negotiations, a New York judge dismissed the suit with prejudice, permanently closing the case.
Durk’s legal team secured the victory and the rapper reportedly waived his right to appeal, signaling that he’s ready to move forward without revisiting the dispute.
“The dismissal means neither party can refile, and no one recovers legal fees—a total shutdown of the case.”
The decision also leaves Exceed Talent Capital empty-handed—no damages, no reimbursement, and no second chance to fight the claim.
What’s Next for Durk
This win clears another major legal cloud from over Lil Durk’s career, as he continues to rebuild his momentum after a string of court cases and label transitions. With Almost Healed still streaming strong and fans anticipating new music from the OTF leader, Durk’s focus looks to be shifting fully back to the music.
