A disturbing video is making its way around social media showing a Chicago mother and her 9-year-old son getting jumped by a group of kids while walking home in the South Deering neighborhood. The incident happened Monday afternoon and was caught on camera, sparking a wave of anger and concern across the city.

According to the report, the 33-year-old mom and her son were surrounded, punched, kicked, and stomped just steps away from their route home. Both were hospitalized afterward, and the mother says her son has been dealing with bullying for years — but nothing changed.
As the video picked up traction online, Chicago rapper Lil Zay Osama jumped in, offering to help the family and even treat them to dinner and Christmas shopping. It’s a small moment of love in a situation that shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
Right now, there have been no arrests tied to the attack, and a lot of people are questioning how something like this could happen in broad daylight — and what’s being done to protect kids walking home from school.
WTW will keep following the updates as the community continues to respond.
