A shocking tragedy unfolded in Miami this past weekend when 32-year-old Helen Massiell Garay Sanchez, a doctor and mother of two, was found dead inside a walk-in freezer at a Dollar Tree store in Little Havana.
According to WPLG Local 10, Sanchez entered the store on Saturday night but did not make a purchase and was not an employee. She was discovered the following morning around 8 a.m., unresponsive inside the restricted freezer area.
Sanchez, an anesthesiologist specializing in congenital heart disease, originally hailed from Nicaragua. She leaves behind two young children. Friends and family are now raising funds to bring her body back home for funeral services.
Miami police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. While no foul play is currently suspected, authorities are treating the case as an unclassified death pending further medical examiner results.
