A tragic incident unfolded in Downtown Chicago late Monday night, leaving a family and community searching for answers.

According to preliminary information, a 16-year-old male was found unresponsive on the ground in the 100 block of West Superior Street near the Magnificent Mile on December 23, 2025, at approximately 9:09 p.m. Authorities believe the teen either fell or jumped from a nearby building. He sustained severe trauma to his body at the scene.

Emergency responders transported the victim to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. At this time, officials have not released the teen’s identity, and the circumstances surrounding the fall remain under investigation.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the area, raising difficult questions about safety, mental health, and the pressures facing young people—especially during the holiday season. Police have not confirmed whether the incident was accidental or intentional, and the investigation is ongoing.

WTW extends condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking loss. If you or someone you know is struggling, resources and support are available—no one has to face these moments alone.
