SALUKIS & FRIENDS RALLY BEHIND SHANTEL FRANKLIN’S RUN FOR STATE REP (IL-08)

Southern Illinois University pride is stepping into the political arena.

SIU alumni, friends, and community supporters are invited to come together for an evening of connection and purpose at the Salukis & Friends Fundraiser, benefiting Shantel Franklin as she runs for Illinois State Representative in the 8th District.

Shantel Franklin is a proud SIU Carbondale alumna, Class of 2016, where she earned her degree in Political Science and left her mark as a former Homecoming Queen, Student Government leader, member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and an Alexander Lane Intern at the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute. Her journey reflects a deep commitment to leadership, service, and community—values she’s now carrying with her to Springfield.

This fundraiser is more than a campaign stop. It’s a reunion of Salukis, a celebration of shared roots, and a chance to support one of our own as she works to bring community-centered, experienced leadership to the state level. With Election Day set for March 17, the momentum matters—and this room will help set the tone for the road ahead.
