During Black History Month, we honor the storytellers shaping culture in real time and Myracle Sims is one of them.
Known online as Majormyra, Myracle has carved out a lane in vertical short filmmaking, turning social media into a cinematic space that celebrates Black life with intention and beauty. Her breakout film, My ATL Smile, captured the vibrant spirit of Atlanta and became a viral reminder that our cities, our energy, and our everyday moments are worthy of the big screen, even on a phone.
She continued by saying that storytelling is through projects like Cycles, which explores the emotional patterns and generational experiences that shape us, and Roots, a visual love letter to heritage, identity, and where we come from. Each film blends poetry, culture, and community in a way that feels both personal and powerful.
Myracle’s work reflects the heart of Black History Month; honoring our past, celebrating our present, and documenting the beauty of who we are right now. Through her lens, Black stories aren’t just told , they’re preserved, elevated, and felt.
