In the clip circulating online, Newton said that a woman’s “value” decreases the more children she has. The remark immediately drew backlash from critics who felt the statement reduced women to their parental status.
However, in the same conversation, Newton also shared that he once told one of his children’s mothers that if a man she’s dating is not willing to love her and all five of her children, then that man is not the right one for her. He emphasized the idea that a woman with kids is a “package deal” and should be accepted fully.
The combination of those two statements — tying “value” to the number of children, while also insisting a partner must embrace the entire family — is what has fueled the heated debate online.
