Dramatic security footage released by University of Nebraska Omaha Public Safety shows the terrifying moment two vehicles were swallowed by a massive sinkhole Tuesday afternoon in Omaha.
According to First Alert 6, the incident happened near 67th Street and Pacific Street in the city’s Aksarben neighborhood when a section of roadway suddenly collapsed beneath traffic. In the video, the ground appears to give way without warning, sending both vehicles plunging into the hole within seconds.
Authorities say the drivers of both vehicles managed to get out safely before emergency crews arrived. Witnesses reported that one driver was able to climb out and assist the other, with bystanders stepping in to help.
