A shocking moment unfolded at this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) festival when actor and host Keke Palmer was interrupted mid-panel by a man who walked on stage and asked her to marry him.
Palmer was speaking during a live taping of her show Baby, This is Keke Palmer when the unexpected happened. In front of a packed audience, a man approached the stage, got down on one knee, and opened a ring box — seemingly proposing to the star in the middle of the event.
At first, Palmer appeared stunned and asked if the moment was part of a bit or a prank. When it became clear the proposal was real, she calmly shut it down with a response that quickly went viral online: she told the man she couldn’t marry him because she didn’t know him.
Security quickly stepped in and escorted the man out of the venue as the audience reacted with a mix of laughter, confusion, and second-hand embarrassment.
Despite the awkward interruption, Palmer handled the moment with composure. After the situation was resolved, she took a breath, joked with the crowd, and continued the conversation on stage — earning praise across social media for staying professional under pressure.
According to reports, the man was later identified and removed from the festival after violating event policies.
