High-profile defense attorney Bradford Cohen—best known for representing major artists like Lil Wayne and Kodak Black—is officially joining the legal team of the Memphis rapper in his latest kidnapping case, according to newly filed court documents.
He will work alongside attorneys John Helms and Saam Zangeneh. Cohen is no stranger to the rapper’s legal battles. He previously represented Shiesty in a federal firearms case that resulted in a prison sentence prior to the rapper’s release in 2025. His return suggests a consistent legal approach as the case unfolds.
Although Cohen had already begun speaking publicly on Shiesty’s behalf as early as last Friday, his formal motion to join the defense was filed on Monday (April 6).
Based in Florida, Cohen has built a reputation as a seasoned criminal defense attorney known for handling high-profile cases involving rappers and entertainers. His client roster includes several major names in hip-hop, and he’s often tapped for complex federal cases. He also has ties to Donald Trump, having previously appeared on The Apprentice. Notably, both Lil Wayne and Kodak Black—two of Cohen’s clients—received presidential pardons in early 2021.
Do you all think Cohen will help Pooh get a lighter sentence if any moving forward given his strong track record ??
