There are only 4 African American Nascar drivers and the youngest one, Rajah Caruth is also a HBCU student at Winston-Salem State University located in North Carolina. On top of that, Spire Motorsports picked him to drive the No. 71 Chevrolet Silverado this season at the beginning of the month.
Rajah first got his love for racing after watching Disney’s Pixar Cars as a child. At 12 years old his parents surprised him with a trip to the NASCAR cup series. His family then fundraised a iRacing sim and once he turned 16 he raced virtually in the NASCAR ignite series catching the attention of the NASCAR drive for diversity program.
Rajah raced full time in 2023 earning 4 top 10’s and finishing 16th in the final standings. He also raced part-time in the Xfinity series for Alpha prime Racing and made his debut with Hendrick Motorsport finishing in 14th place at the season finale in Phoenix Raceway!
Big congratulations to Rajah, can’t wait to see how 2024 treats him!
