Chicago’s very own J Bambii recently released her new single “CHURCH FAN” and held the screening for her short film for the single on October 5th. This short film was not just an ordinary video, this story was based on the realities of what it’s to be a real black woman in America as well as in the black community. J Bambii had people on the edge of their seats, giving the people something that they’ve never seen before: “Black American Beauty.”
The audience was in for the treat that included tasteful beauty beyond the European standard; capturing the meaningful journey of accepting your beauty and strength as a black woman. J Bambii is a well known rapper, activist, and curator who dedicates her art and messages towards liberating the minds, hearts, representation of true blackness in her community. This night was not only for her, other black artist who also had a meaningful revelation to tell.
The Honorable Hakim Dough showcased his short film titled “Too Thankful: The Revelation.” This short film starred himself along PEP-C, EWA EWA, and Heavy Crownz, a dedicated activist, farmer, and rapper from Inglewood, Chicago. Hakim Dough highlighted not only the reflection of his realities, but the lives and realities of his community that surrounds him. He stated in his post, ” This film is a prophetic prologue to the manifestations of my reality… This is more than a film, this is my life, this is our life” (Hakim Dough, 2024).
