CHICAGOLAND HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL TEAM HONORS JACKIE ROBINSON WITH REPLICA JERSEYS

Jackie Robinson Day is next Tuesday (April 15th) and many businesses, schools, and people are finding different ways to celebrate and honor the MLB Legend.

Bloom Township High School District 206 baseball team announced that they will be honoring Robinson with replica Negro League jerseys.

According to ABC News, their coach, Erik Stockwell helped come up with the idea and design the uniforms. Each player got a number from one of the stars of the Negro League. With that number, the students had to name the player and give 3 facts about them.

This is a good way for students to be involved and to know more about Robinson and him paving the way for other African American baseball players.

The school plans to make it an annual tradition, wearing the uniforms the week before Jackie Robinson Day.
