CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS FACE LEGAL ACTION AFTER 10 YEAR OLD’S DEATH

The family of 10-year-old Kody Townsend has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Chicago Public Schools (CPS) after he died from choking on food while at school last October. The incident, which occurred under school supervision, allegedly went unnoticed until it was too late.

According to the lawsuit, CPS staff failed to intervene or provide proper supervision. The family is seeking accountability, claiming their son’s death was preventable.

This case follows a similar tragedy in 2019, when CPS paid $4 million to the family of a boy with autism who drowned during a school activity, again citing lack of proper oversight.

Kody’s death has sparked public concern and calls for stronger safety protocols in schools to prevent future tragedies.
