A teenager tragically lost his life on Sunday after being drawn into a meat grinder at a California factory that produces a well-known brand of frozen burritos. The victim, a 19-year-old whose identity has not been disclosed, was working as part of the after-hours sanitation crew at Tina’s Burritos food processing plant in Vernon when the accident occurred.
At around 9:30 p.m., he was cleaning the meat grinder when it unexpectedly activated, pulling him in. Other employees reported hearing the young man calling for help as they tried to turn off the machine, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Authorities arrived quickly, but unfortunately, they found the 19-year-old deceased inside the grinder.
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health will conduct an investigation to determine what caused the meat grinder to suddenly turn on. However, police do not suspect any foul play was involved in the incident.
